Carrie Thompson Jones
Carrie is a new addition to the AboutUSvisas.com team. She comes to us with over a decade of experience in the business world, where she acted as a leader in her roles at multinational companies or as an innovator in her entrepreneurial ventures. Carrie graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, is licensed to practice in the state of Arizona, and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
During her time in law school, she worked as an extern with the federal government out of the Phoenix office of the Department of Homeland Security and enjoyed her clinical studies while feeding her passion for entrepreneurial endeavors with ASU’s Technology Ventures Services Group. Carrie’s summer employment in her second year of school took her to Los Angeles, where she worked as a summer associate with the boutique, high-stakes litigation firm of Howarth & Smith.
Carrie is also a rare Arizona native, but spent most of her childhood living abroad in Saudi Arabia. She studied Arabic and International Relations at Brigham Young University and spent the bulk of her time in Utah as a resident of the language immersion program at the Foreign Language Complex. She acted as head delegate of BYU’s first Model Arab League team, and brought the award for “Best Delegation” at the conference home to enjoy a place in the University’s trophy case.
She also lived as an adult expatriate in Hefei City, the capital of the Anhui Province in China. After her time living in China, she moved back to the United States and continued to do business with her Chinese colleagues through her own entrepreneurial work. She picked up spoken Mandarin during her stay in Hefei, and has vowed to learn written Chinese (simplified characters!) as soon as possible. She now calls Arizona home, and is thrilled at the opportunity to work with the Law Office of Tanya M. Lee in an Of Counsel capacity.
